October 2014 Newsletter

Wow! Here it is, December already. Another year slid by, almost without notice. Seems like just a short while ago, I was nagging everybody about getting your dues check made out to Burbank Muzzleloaders for $75.00 sent in to, Tom Trevor, 11552 Swinton Ave. Granada Hills Ca. 91344. If you can do that again as soon as possible, the nagging will cease.

November 30th we held another one of our “fifth Sunday” trail walks. The winner appeared to be Sam Baseman, with 22 hits out of a possible 25. Good shooting Sam! Second place, was taken by Jannu Lorentsen, with a score of 17, shooting a muzzleloader no less! THAT is one heck of a tall score on that match with a muzzleloader. I think that might be a match record! Good shooting Jannu!

A work party was held on December 7th, to get the range spruced up for the Christmas match on the following weekend. I think nine or ten of us came out and lent a hand for a couple of hours, fixing target frames, raking, and repairing the berms, and other various chores that needed to be done to make the place presentable for our guests at the Christmas shoot. And what a shoot it was!

Eighteen shooters came out to test their rifleman skills at ten different Christmas themed targets. Its fast paced, and can be quite lucrative if you can score well. This is a money shoot, with prizes ranging from $10.00, $5.00, $3.00, $2.00, and $1.00 from first to fifth place. Sometimes the club makes a little money on this match, and sometimes we don’t, but what the heck, it’s Christmas. We had guests from several other clubs, plus some old friends that we don’t get to see too often. Actually, the guests outnumbered the members in attendance. Wouldn’t it be nice someday, to see most of our own membership at a match that other clubs look forward to attending EVERY year?

December 30th, there will be another “fifth Sunday” trail walk, and on the second Sunday in January, we will be having our “first shoot of the year”. That’s January 11th, so come on out and join in the fun.

Also, don’t forget to send in your dues check to Tom.
